Anonymous asked: Where are you moving to?
I’ll be moving in about a month, so a few more things will come up for grabs here on tumblr. Stay tuned.
Prizes will include a couple unique McSweeney’s publications, a Polaroid Colorpack II Land Camera (Fujifilm still makes film for it), and more.
WINNERS
By a nose: LOPEZDISPENSER
2nd place: WHISKEYROBOT
YES there was a secret consolation prize. Send contact info by fanmail or something. I’ll hit the post office on Monday.

Stream Zammuto's self-titled album @ SPIN →
Nick Zammuto was 1/2 of The Books and he is really damn good at making music. Here he is playing with his kids and making a percussion track by scratching the end grooves of a vinyl record.
This album sounds like Bon Iver on caffeine and amphetamines. In a very good way. It hits shelves Tuesday.

The Mountain Goats, Owen Pallett, and Anonymous 4... →
Here is a crystal-clear recording of the 89-minute performance at NYC’s Merkin Concert Hall (haha merkin) thanks to NPR Music. Anonymous 4 is an all-female classical vocal quartet, they open the show. Owen Pallett plays violin and put together the arrangements of John Darnielle’s songs.

– Theodore Roosevelt in The Atlantic, August 1894. We need more blustery, grandiose essays from our politicians. (thanks Andrew!)
Obligatory China, IL appreciation post. Brad Neely is America’s wacked-out sweetheart.
The 2012 edition of A.V. Undercover is under way, and it’s good so far, but basically I just want to see Ted Leo (above with “Everybody Wants To Rule The World”), Cursive, and The Mountain Goats (also) just take turns covering everything.

Text Post
So I had an anxiety thing tonight. It’s not common, thankfully, but it pops up from time to time. For me anxiety comes on like a stomach ulcer and THE TUMS. THEY DO NOTHING. So then I can’t sleep, so then I get anxious about sleeping, so then it goes on and on and on until finally the part of me that’s tired can smother the part of me that’s convinced the world will end.

Frank Rich: "The GOP's Problem with Women" →
Here’s that 5 page summary of GOP misogyny I know you were all looking forward to. Includes bonus material like pre-Nixon history (Republicans kind of liked women and contraception back then) and Mitt Romney’s track record as a Mormon ward bishop in Boston (he was a real dick).
