Pixar is a brand, and easily Disney’s most valuable asset.</p> <p>Mickey Mouse is, contrary to what all these idiots say, a character. He’s a cartoon character like Bart Simpson, who also got shilled for money and “branded” in the 90s. Here’s the difference: Bart Simpson still has writers and producers breathing <i>life</i> into his character and using him to crack jokes and annoy Lisa and all his other shenanigans. He has evolved naturally over 20 years to inhabit the world he currently does and, as such, is a mainstay of Sunday night television and one of the stars of a <i>surprisingly</i> good movie. Mickey’s been boring since before I was born.</p> <p>What the article completely misses the point of is that Mickey was a boring character for decades and no one had the balls to do something interesting with him.
